Small Business Owner Address Chinese College Students on American Business Practices

 Grace Engineered Products’ Phil Allen recently returned from a trip to China where he addressed more than 150 Chinese college business students on the issues pertaining to American small business owners. 

Beginning with the topic of American entrepreneurship and dealings in the global marketplace, Mr. Allen spoke about his first hand experiences with starting a business, tactics in negotiating with international suppliers and why he chose China to for manufacturing and supplies.  He stressed the importance for the Central China Normal University students to stay competitive in their fields by adding value other than an economical product.  He stressed the importance of not only providing products at the right price, but that service and trust in the vendors are equally necessary.  This is especially poignant considering the many recalls stemming from China’s manufacturing sector in recent months.  Mr. Allen debated with the College’s top Economic educators the condition of China’s economy, the appreciating RMB and the future of trade between the two countries given the recent product recalls in America.
